The Last Viking

Smoking in a car and then dropping the cigarette out of the window while continuing to drive.

Screen Still
Littering Impact
In a movie set predominantly in the Danish Forests, when we see a character flick a cigarette out the window of a moving car, we are deeply upset.

Scene Description

The littering character in question is one of the main characters in this film. He’s dour, grumpy and miserable. A character like this would smoke and probably would litter in real life. However,, we are still upset when we see these behaviours depicted in films, particularly in a film we really enjoyed.

The location of this movie is a key part of the story; the characters are there to find something that was lost a long time ago, possibly another environmental crime?! A bag buried in the woods that can’t be good for nature, surely. Denmark’s lush forests are a pleasure to watch in this film, the trees are old and plentiful, with moss-covered ground and, rivers flowing.

But why do they have to show someone flicking a cigarette out of a car window? We love this movie, but we do not like seeing littering in movies.
