What should I do if I see someone littering in real life?
If it feels safe, a kind word can sometimes help. Or you might simply lead by example, picking up what you can and showing care for the place you are in.
Impact & Awareness FAQ
Answers to the questions we hear most.
How can teachers or parents use your archive as a discussion tool?
Our archive can be a gentle way to begin conversations about how stories shape our habits and our care for the environment. Teachers and parents might use these examples to spark discussion or as part of learning together.
Community & Contributions What inspired you to start this project?
This project began from a love of movies and a real concern for the world we share. After seeing how often littering appeared in films, we felt it was time to notice it and talk about it.
About the Project Does your project collaborate with environmental groups or campaigns?
We are open to working together with others who care about these issues. If you are interested in joining forces, please get in touch.
Community & Contributions How accurate are your records, and how do you verify submissions?
We review every submission and, when possible, check the time and details before adding it to the archive. We want to keep our records as trustworthy as possible.
About the Project Are there any famous films with a particularly high number of littering moments?
Yes, some genres and periods in film history seem to show more littering than others. From time to time, we share these patterns in our blog or in special case studies.
Impact & Awareness Do you think movies should stop showing littering altogether?
Not always. Sometimes littering is part of a character or the story itself. We simply hope that filmmakers also show what happens next, or balance these moments with positive choices.
Impact & Awareness Do you include animated films or just live action?
We include both animated and live-action films, because littering can show up in any kind of story.
Submitting a Scene What’s the impact of highlighting on-screen littering? Has it changed anyone’s habits?
Many people who have contributed or read our archive say they notice littering more, both in films and in daily life. We cannot say for sure what changes, but noticing is always the first step.
Impact & Awareness Why do filmmakers include littering in scenes?
Filmmakers sometimes use littering to quickly show something about a character's mood, attitude, or situation. It is a storytelling shortcut that's been around for a long time.
